Who We Are
Shoot The Messenger is an Australian blog dedicated to tackling life’s most uncomfortable conversations — the ones everyone thinks about but nobody wants to have. Based in Melbourne, we cover everything from awkward money situations with mates to navigating tricky housemate dynamics, workplace tensions, and relationship dilemmas.
Why We Started
We’ve all been there — lying awake at 2am rehearsing a conversation you know you need to have but absolutely dread. Whether it’s telling a mate they owe you money, letting your housemate know they need to move out, or confronting a colleague about something awkward, these conversations are a universal part of life. Yet nobody teaches you how to handle them.
That’s where we come in. Shoot The Messenger was born out of a simple idea: give people the words, the confidence, and (where possible) a laugh to get through those cringe-worthy moments. We write with a straight-up, no-nonsense Aussie voice because that’s how real conversations happen — direct, honest, and maybe with a bit of humour thrown in.
What You’ll Find Here
Our articles are practical, relatable guides for real-life situations. From how to ask a mate to pay you back without ending the friendship, to how to break up with someone you live with without it turning into a crime podcast — we’ve got you covered. Every piece is written to help you handle the hard stuff with a bit more grace (and a lot less stress).
